Black Screen of Death

Black Screen of Death!

There’s been a lot of coverage about a Microsoft security update that is causing “the black screen of death.” It’s not a Windows 7 issue, but the timing of this isn’t great for MS.

I took part in a focus group for Windows 7 several months ago. Everyone in the group was a developer, programmer, IT manager, etc. The focus group “leader” was extremely critical of MS and Vista in particular. It was like he was trying to draw out everyone’s ire and anger — find out how much hostility was out there.

However, most of the group had never used Vista. Like me, most everyone had stuck to using XP when they were using Windows (which, for me, is only about half the time these days). Everyone in the group wanted Windows 7 to be good, which it is.
